AI Is Everywhere
Have you talked to an Artificial Intelligence today? No? Are you sure?
If you said "Hey Siri" or "Alexa" today — then you did! If YouTube recommended a video to you — that counts too. And if you unlocked your phone with your face — definitely!
AI Is Hiding in Your Everyday Life
AI is in way more things than you think:
- Voice assistants like Siri, Alexa, or Google Assistant understand what you say
- YouTube and TikTok suggest videos you might like
- Your phone recognizes your face when you unlock it
- Autocorrect fixes your typos automatically
- Game enemies in video games react to your strategy
iDid you know?
When you say "OK Google," an AI analyzes your voice in a fraction of a second. It recognizes the words — and some devices can even learn to tell your voice apart from others!
But What Actually IS AI?
Imagine there's a student in your class who has read everything. Really everything — every book, every website, every Wikipedia article. This student is super good at answering questions and writing texts.
But: They haven't experienced any of it. They know what chocolate is but have never tasted it. They know the difference between joy and sadness but have never felt either.
That's roughly how AI works. It has "read" an incredible amount and can recognize patterns. But it doesn't truly understand the world the way you do.
▶What does 'Artificial Intelligence' actually mean?
The word "artificial" means: made by humans. And "intelligence" means: being smart, being able to solve problems.
So "Artificial Intelligence" is a human-made smartness. More precisely: it's computer programs that learn from many examples and can then recognize patterns.
Experts also call this Machine Learning — because the machine learns from data. Pretty cool, right?
