Superpowers and Weaknesses
AI can do some things incredibly well — better than any human. But at other things, it fails completely. Let's find out where AI is strong and where it's not!
AI's Superpowers
AI is like a calculator for language. Just like a calculator can do math lightning-fast, AI can write texts, recognize patterns, and analyze data at incredible speed.
- Super memory: AI can "read" millions of books and remember everything
- Lightning fast: AI can solve tasks in one second that would take you hours
- Pattern recognition: AI finds connections in huge amounts of data
- Never tired: AI can work around the clock without ever needing a break
AI's Weaknesses
But watch out — AI also has some pretty big weaknesses:
- No feelings: AI can't feel what joy or sadness means
- No real understanding: AI doesn't actually understand jokes — it only recognizes which words often appear in jokes
- Makes things up: Sometimes AI writes something that sounds totally convincing but is completely wrong
- No common sense: AI doesn't know that you should bring an umbrella when it rains — unless that was in its training data
!Watch out: AI fibs sometimes!
When an AI makes something up and acts like it's true, experts call it a hallucination. Funny name, right? But it's important to know: you can't blindly trust an AI!
▶Why does AI sometimes make things up?
AI works with probabilities. It thinks: "Which word fits best next?" Sometimes a wrong word fits well in a sentence — and then you get a convincing-sounding text that's actually nonsense.
Imagine filling in a fill-in-the-blank text without knowing the rest of the story. You write what seems to fit best — but sometimes you get it wrong. That's similar to what AI does.
That's why the rule is: Always check what the AI says! Especially with facts and numbers.
