Staying Safe with AI
Imagine you meet someone on the internet. The person is friendly, talks really well, and seems to know everything. But you don't know who's really behind it.
It's similar with AI. It sounds smart and friendly — but it's a computer program. And just like with strangers on the internet: Be friendly, but stay careful!
No Personal Information!
This is the most important rule of all: Never give an AI personal information!
That means:
- ❌ Not your real name — Call yourself "Max" or "Stardust" or whatever you like
- ❌ Not your address — Neither street nor city
- ❌ Not your school — And not your teacher's name either
- ❌ Not your phone number — Or your parents' number
- ❌ No photos of yourself — No selfies either
!The 3 golden rules
- Don't share anything personal — Your name, address, and school stay secret
- Don't believe everything — AI can say wrong things. Always double-check!
- Involve an adult — If something seems weird or scary, show it to an adult right away
Don't Believe Everything!
You already know from the last module: AI can talk nonsense and sound totally convincing doing it. That's why:
- When the AI tells you a "fact" → check it!
- When something sounds weird → show it to an adult!
- When you're unsure → better to ask one time too many than one time too few
If Something Feels Wrong: STOP!
Sometimes an AI can write things that seem weird, scary, or uncomfortable to you. This can happen because the AI doesn't realize it's talking to a kid.
If that happens:
- Stop! Stop typing
- Don't keep reading — Close the window
- Show an adult — Show it to your parents or a teacher
That's not tattling. That's being smart! Even adults ask for help when something's not right.

AI programs are run by companies. These companies often save what you type. Why? So they can improve their AI. The AI learns from conversations with people.
The problem: if you type in your real name or address, it might be stored. And you don't know exactly who can read it. That's why the rule is simple: Personal information doesn't belong in an AI chat!
By the way: adults should be careful too about what they tell an AI. So this isn't just a "kids' rule" — it applies to everyone!
